Entry Fees
2021 Ten Mile Entry Fee: $50
2021 5K Entry Fee: $40
Wave Start
The Ten Mile will use a wave start again this year. Runners will be assigned to a color-coded starting corral based on previous race times. Colors on bib numbers will match starting corrals. There will be six waves of approximately 2,500 runners each. The waves will start at three to five minute intervals. Runners outside the top 25 males and females will be scored on net times. Credit Union Cherry Blossom 5K Run-Walk
This event is designed for individuals who don't wish to attempt 10 miles, or for walkers and relaxed-pace runners who feel they would take longer than 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete 10 miles. All 5K entrants receive the same amenities as the 10 milers, including the official race t-shirt, their overall times and places in the event, and post-race food and drink. All runners will be scored on net times. Only the first male and first female finisher will receive recognition; there will be no other 5K awards. All 5K runners must finish and be off the course no later than 10:05 A.M.
The 5K Run Walk will begin at 9:00 A.M. on Sunday, September 12.
Kids' Run 1/2 Mile
The Kids' Run is a 1/2 Mile fun run for kids ages 4 to 10. Race day is Saturday April 4. The run will start and finish at the National Building Museum (the site of the Expo and Packet Pickup). The first wave will go off at 9:30 A.M. The race is on a loop course and is closely monitored by sentries, but parents are allowed to run with their children. The Kids' Run 1/2 Mile will begin at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 11.

PRRO Championship Circuit
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run is a member of the 2019-2020 Professional Road Running Organization circuit.
Runner Bib Number
Pin your bib number on the front of your shirt or shorts. Your bib number must be visible at all times during the race or you may be subject to disqualification. Please complete the important emergency medical and contact information on the back of the bib and make note of the special discount coupon from Potomac River Running, our official retail partner.
MyLaps Bib Tags
Both the 5K and the Ten Mile Run will be scored using the MyLaps Bib Tag. When you pick up your packet at the Health and Fitness Expo, you will receive a bib number with the MyLaps Bib Tag attached. The Bib Tag remains on the back of your number. Do not remove it. You must wear your MyLaps Bib Tag during the race or you will not be scored. The MyLaps Bib Tags are single-use, but can be recycled after the race as part of your bib number.
Seeding Times Required
In order to ensure a safe start in the 10 Mile, we will be lining up runners into six corrals based on previous race times. All entrants must provide a past 10-mile time (or a projected time based on a 10K time). Individuals not submitting a time will be placed in the slowest time group.
Time Limit
We can only keep the course open for a maximum of 2 hours and 20 minutes after the 7:30 A.M. start. If you cannot complete the course in under this time limit, switch to the 5K Run-Walk instead.
T-Shirts and Amenities
Participant short-sleeved T-shirts are given to all 10 Mile and 5K entrants. All shirts must be picked up Friday, September 10 or Saturday, September 11 at the Health and Fitness Expo. Shirts will not be distributed at the race site on Sunday, September 12. Shirts can be mailed to no-shows for $6.00. Information on getting your shirt mailed to you will be posted on the race website at www.cherryblossom.org after the race.
Post-race refreshments and random prizes will be available at the awards ceremony following the race in the 10 Mile staging area. Post-race refreshments will also be available in the 5K staging area.
Volunteering
We will need over 1,400 volunteers to conduct the 2021 event. All volunteers will receive the official long-sleeved volunteer t-shirt and a transferable guaranteed entry (at prevailing entry fee) into the 2022 race. Click here for more information or to sign up to volunteer.
Warnings
For everyone’s safety, running with a dog, baby stroller, racing stroller, or headphones is NOT permitted.
Weather
The normal temperature at race time is in the 60F to 65F range. Temperatures rarely fall below 56F.
Virtual Run
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom will also have a Virtual Run this year! The event has become known as the "Runner's Rite of Spring," and we don't want to have our runners miss out on running among the cherry blossoms at their peak. The Virtual Run will be held from March 20 - April 11. We hope that many of our runners will participate in the Virtual Run, and then come back to join us in person to enjoy the "Runner's Delight of Fall" on Sept. 12. The proceeds from this event support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. The Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) is a non-profit international organization that helps to treat millions of children across the U.S. and Canada.
