Social Media Race Ambassadors
he Credit Union Cherry Blossom Social Media team is responsible for keeping the event’s runners, vol-
Tunteers, sponsors and supporters informed and engaged throughout the year on Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram as well as leading the social media fundraising team. The team of four consists of Heather Mund-
wiler, Kim Westrich, Sarah Beth Hensley House and Elizabeth Pagel-Hogan. This year, we hosted a Twitter
Takeover with MedStar Sports Medicine where runners’ burning medical questions were answered over a lunch
hour. Our Instagram followers have gown nearly 60% from 2018, from 1,164 in January 2018 to 1,833 in January
2019 - we are now over 2,000 followers! Facebook remains our go-to social media platform with a majority of
our followers.
The race ambassador program is an opportunity for everyday runners to join the team. These goodwill ambas-
sadors receive a race entry as well as gear from sponsors like Under Armour and Garmin, they participate in
training programs from Potomac River Running and Under Armour, and more, in exchange for the ambassadors
sharing their experiences on their social media platforms from Facebook to Instagram to Snapchat. New this
year, our ambassadors have taken over our Instagram stories over the weekends to give our followers a glimpse
into their #CUCB2019 training. We’re excited to have Ryan Arey, Rachel Capone, Mayra Figeroa and Tarrance
Thrash as our 2019 Race Ambassadors.
